A number of offshore jurisdictions have modified their laws to make their jurisdictions more attractive to individuals and/or businesses who set up offshore structures in the business trust format (Massachusetts business trust).

Three nations, which are sometimes considered to be offshore, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Belize, have artificially established the trust concept from the common law of the United Kingdom and the United States through their statutes.
